Andrew Byron
Andrew Byron is a British-born actor, writer, and voice artist with an exceptional gift for deep and detailed character development, and unusual fluidity and versatility of language and accents. Andrew graduated from St. Andrew’s University, where he studied Russian, and then spent four years at The School of the Science of Acting in London under the tutelage of the extraordinary mentor Sam Kogan. When the book of Sam’s work was published, a photo of Andrew was chosen for the cover (photo below).
Andrew's feature film work includes memorable turns in Global box office blockbusters like Patti Jenkins directed WONDER WOMAN; BLACK WIDOW; RED 2 opposite Bruce Willis; CRIMINAL; JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT opposite and directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh; SIX MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT opposite Eddy Izzard and Dame Judi Dench; and Plan B's WAR MACHINE directed by David Michôd starring Brad Pitt; He plays opposite Colin Firth in GENIUS directed by Michael Grandage; and was directed and played opposite George Clooney in THE MONUMENTS MEN.
In television, Andrew has scene stealing roles in series such as BBC America's runaway hit KILLING EVE, playing "Anton" Jodi Comer's new and suspect handler, BBC's MI-5 (aka SPOOKS) playing a sinister Russian insurgent aiming to trigger a war between the nations, BBC's DR. WHO, playing "General Ilya" who bands together with other military leaders to stop the alien invasion, ITV's LAW & ORDER:UK, and BBC's SILENT WITNESS, among others. You can see him playing a Russian in multi BAFTA award winning director Peter Kosminsky’s political thriller THE UNDECLARED WAR which will premiere on Peacock this August.
Andrew is no stranger to the stage, having performed to live audiences since his early days. In 2005, he shared the stage with Woody Harrelson in NIGHT OF THE IGUANA at The Lyric in London's West End. Most recently Andrew wrote, directed, and performed a one-man sold-out show featuring 15 characters mounted to high critical praise in Brighton, London and Moscow. One reviewer (Remotegoat) declaring the show "surpasses every single show on the Fringe" giving it 5 stars: "Andrew will make you laugh and cry".
Having grown up in a bi-lingual French/English household, Andrew has an exceptional ear for languages as well as accents and his long list of credits are a testament to this. He has played dozens of Russians as well as many Americans, Germans and a Frenchman.
He speaks fluent French and Russian and can deliver unaccented German, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. His range of UK accents include RP, Cockney, Yorkshire, Liverpool, Welsh, Scottish, West Country and more. International accents: US accents (Standard, Southern, and NY), Australian, South African, French, German and Scandinavian.
Andrew holds a UK and a US 01 Visa.
